Summers Never Seem to Last …

So I haven’t posted in forever. I spent the Summer living some of the best adventures of my life and traveling to some of the most beautiful countries in the world. I started in Toronto, spent some time in Europe, east Africa and then Western Canada. The places I went, and the people I met influenced the music I listened to along the way, and what I’m listening to now that I’m back. So on that note, another Mixtape for your ears and bodies.

Side 1

Side 2

T.I.A. - Side 1:

1. Yelle - Amour du sol

My summer started with a Yelle concert, et maintenant j’suis amoureux du sol.

2. Pharrell (feat. Santogold & Julian Casablancas) - My Drive Thru

My Drive Thru
I dare you to try not having a dance party when you hear this. Also, Santogold is my new shiz.

3. Mates of State - Goods

Goods

A banger from their old album. This was on repeat on my iPod while I was living in Usa River, Tanzania.

4. Band of Horses - Ode to LRC

This song came-on on shuffle while I drove through a small town and saw pure beauty. It was special.

5. Andrew Bird - Tables and Chairs

Tables and Chairs

If I could sing, I would sing this song to the amazing volunteers that I got to work with and meet in Tanzania.

6. The Beatles - Across the Universe

Something about the Beatles always feels right…

7. Portishead - Deep Water

Deep Water
Okanagan Lake, you almost took my life.

8. Feist - It’s Cool to Love Your Family

It’s Cool to Love Your Family
I got to spend time with a lot of family over my travels and now I kind of agree with Leslie…

9. Vampire Weekend - Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac Cover)

Everywhere

In my mind, these guys know how to make great Summer music.

10. Ra Ra Riot - Can You Tell

Summer girls are the kind I like, I stole your honey like I stole your bike.

11. Zap Mama - Iko Iko

I love this chick. If this song sounds familiar, thing Tom Cruise, MI:2, opening scene.

T.I.A. - Side 2

1. Jamie Lidell - Another Day

Another Day

Jim is one of my favorite albums to drop this Summer. Produced by Gonzales (Feist’s producer, also known as “the T-Pain of Paris”).

2. Albert Hammond Jr. - GfC

Hey Daniel, holla.

3. Dan Black - HYPNTZ

HYPNTZ

A cover of Biggie Smalls’ Hypnotize. This shit is ridikalous.

4. Mates of State - Blue and Gold Print

More Mates? Yeah.

5. Woodpigeon - Oberkampf

Oberkampf

I went to Calgary and rediscovered these guys. I’ve been listening to them non-stop since.

6. The Walkmen - ¿Dónde está la Playa?

Where’s The Beach?

I got a lot of great Summer-weather, but couldn’t find a beach once - balls.

7. Coldplay - Strawberry Swing

I’ve been listening to the new Coldplay consistenly through the Summer. Conclusion: Brian Eno could shit on a track and it would still be fire.

8. Feist - Know How (featuring Kings of Convenience)

Feist comes in on the second verse, but this song reminds me of walking through Kensington Market.

9. Air France - No Excuses

Air France has no excuses, but every other airline I flew seemed to…

10. CSS - Jager Yoga

Jager Yoga

Drank a lot of jager, did a little yoga - my chi is so balanced.

11. Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees

I’m now working downtown, and this song (as well as Lil Wayne’s “I Feel Like Dying”) describe how I feel these days…
Enjoy!

Dude, solid playlist. Saw there were a couple of your go-tos (I’m looking at you Mates of State)

Inclusion of Deep Water? Appreciated.
